Dead Streams

The livestream is, I think, the most important media innovation since the photograph. The sense of reaching through the frame, to another time and space with whom one is continuous, is compelling.

These, however, are dead streams. Each is a contact print of a laser print of a screen capture of a live stream of a funeral. As you look at them, how many mediating surfaces are you peering through?  The screen, the contact print, the laser print, the screen cap of the live stream, the photo on the coffin, the corpse, hidden from view.
